Blogroll Issues

I'm beat.Spent a couple of hours, in between playing Pet Society and Frontierville on Facebook and watching the season premiere of Dexter (well done!), comparing my Bloglines subs with my Google Reader subs. I'd copied over my subs in the spring, but I've made changes, but not the same ones. to both accounts since then and didn't want to lose something I wanted and end up adding back a dead link.

I'm not sure what I'll do about blogrolls on my blogs. Bloglines disappears on October 1, supposedly. I might manually add some into a template widget for my specialized blogs, but here I had 'em all and that's a LOT of blogs to add and keep up-to-date. It's easier to make changes in the reader and have that move over to all relevant places on my blogs. Ah well. At least I've got my reading straightened out.

Too Silly Not to Try

And yet, oddly on target. :)

You Are Conscientious

You try to stay on top of everything in your life, and it shows. You present a good face to the world.

You are detail oriented and meticulous. It bothers you to let anything slide.

You sometimes end up picking up the slack for other people, but you don't really mind. You like being responsible.

You are extremely independent and competent. The world would be a better place if more people were like you.

A TV Meme Quiz Thingie

I found this on Sweet Memes. Before I start this, I have to say that it's really hard for me to pick favorites, of anything, especially of TV shows. And to be limited to six!? Ack. But anyway, there goes.

List 6 of your favorite television shows.
This varies from month to month, or rather half-season to half-season. And I'll assume this is for current shows, not old faves like The Man from UNCLE. And I can't include any new shows yet as I haven't seen any. Although I suspect the new Hawaii 5-0 will be a contender, once I get to watch the tape tonight. I was watching the season premiere of Castle last night. [Update: I did watch Hawaii 5-0 tonight and it was great. Definitely on my list of faves.]

At the moment:
  1. NCIS
  2. Castle
  3. The Closer
  4. Leverage
  5. Medium
  6. Warehouse 13

Shows I hate leaving out: Human Target, Caprica, Stargate: Universe, How I Met Your Mother, The Good Wife, Burn Notice, Bones, Dexter, Sanctuary, Dr. Who, and Torchwood and Primeval (both of which will be back!).

1. Who is your favorite character from #2? Castle, of course. And that's only partly because the incredible Nathan Fillion is playing him.

2. Who is your least favorite character from #4? No one. I love 'em all. Every one of those wonderful, quirky characters rocks.

3. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include? I guess if Gibbs and his team needed to consult a psychic, Allison would be the best one to approach. Which would require a trip to Phoenix. And we know how much Tony loves road trips, though not as much to places without lots of sexy women lying around the beach in a bikini.

4. Who is your favorite [relation]ship from #6? There really aren't many, but Micah and Pete are really good partners. And the curmudgeonly uncle/wacky niece relationship between Artie and Claudia is fun.

5. If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be? I think Provenza and Mrs. Fredericks would be a hoot together. Provenza would definitely meet his match, or his better.

6. If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do? Character or actor? If character, Eliot, cuz he's so sexy. Actor, Christian Kane who plays him because he's hot, and I'd have him sing to me.

7. If you could change one thing about #2's plotline, what would you change? Nothing. The joy of my favorite shows is that I enjoy them for what they are and how they can surprise me without pissing me off. Much. ;) So far, Castle has been on target.

8. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them: Well, it's mostly got family relationships. Aside from Allison and her husband, Joe, there's all the sibling rivalries going on among the 3 daughters. But Allison and her boss have a really nice working relationship I enjoy watching.

9. If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be? Brenda from The Closer. Gibbs from NCIS can take care of himself and would probably have to rescue me and Brenda because I can't swim.

10. If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose? I actually don't pay attention to the order in the credits. A lot of that is negotiated by their contracts, so it's not anything that really matters to me.

11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like and what would their role be? Back when I wrote fanfic, I might've been able to come up with something interesting, but my mind doesn't work that way, so I'll say I'd write myself in as a Mary Sue who gets to save the day with her requisite bobby pin.

12. What happens in your favorite episode of show #2? Here's where I can't pick faves comes in. Plus, I really don't remember individual episodes that well. But I do have a favorite moment. The opening of the Halloween episode when Nathan Fillion as Castle dressed up as his previous character, Mal Reynolds of Firefly. Such a delicious moment.

13. If you could kill off one of the characters of #1, who would it be and how would you do it? Absolutely no one. Stop that kind of talk now. I sweat out each season of that show since they killed off Kate. At least Sasha Alexander wanted off the show due to how physical the part was (or so it was reported), and they gave her a great send-off, but still, very traumatic. But I love Ziva, her replacement, so I've forgiven all concerned.

14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose? Probably 5. The Closer has a lot of complex characters who would be harder to write, I think..

15. So, I saved the best for last. If you could date anyone from any of these shows, which show and which person? Again, character or actor? Although, probably the same and there are 2, so it's a tie. Eliot/Christian Kane from Leverage and Tony/Michael Weatherly from NCIS, although there was a time, 40 years or so ago, I'd've picked David McCallum in a heartbeat (now Ducky on NCIS, but long ago he was my first true actor crush: Illya Kuryakin on The Man from UNCLE).

And Then There was Food

Bagel, Lox, and Cream Cheese with a side of Egg Salad
Break fast at my sister's. My father made the egg salad. Then hubby and I went home and I had my first Mallomars of the season. Yum.

I Haz Internet

I was offline for a day. Eek. No TV, no internet other than my phone, no cable, thanks to a few tornadoes that touched down in NYC. Only one fatality that I know of, but a lot of cars were smashed by fallen trees and roofs were sheared off in places across the city. For once, a storm hit while I was still at work and mostly over by the time I left, rather than hitting as soon as I exit the building. It's amazing how dependent I've gotten on the interweb and how much withdrawal from it drives me nuts.

Links and Libraries, Perfect Together!

I don't think I've posted this before: World's Largest Chocolate Bar. Link found on Bill Crider's Pop Culture Magazine.

And this chocolate pouch, with the rather odd name of Chocolate Bar Yummy Pocket, is perfect for any self-respecting chocoholic. Found on Neatorama.

From the library phone reference trenches...
Her: What programs do you have this fall?
Me: We don't have the whole schedule yet, but we are doing a resume writing workshop.
Her: I need that. I need someone to type my resume for me.
Me: Actually, it's to teach you how to put together a resume. We can't type it for you. We're a library, not a typing service.
Her: Well, I don't know what you all do!

Oh the Irony

Oh the Irony
As someone on flickr pointed out, one would hope the broker for the property isn't the one that had to vacate the storefront.

A Link, A Quiz, and Some Chocolate

I found the link for this on a LiveJournal: Old Spice Voicemail Generator. You pick your sex, then check off what you want him to say, and an MP3 is generated. Fun stuff.

You Are Blue

You are detail oriented and focused. You enjoy keeping your life in order.

You are a perfectionist, and you tend to take your time with tasks. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

It's hard for you to deal with dramatic, flippant, and silly people. You value maturity.

You are a good listener and you expect others to be the same. You expect to be taken seriously.

Well, yes and no. The yes part is the stuff they cribbed from my answers. They go a bit astray with the extrapolations. In other words, typical for this sort of thing. But blue is my favorite color, along with black, so this is kinda nice.

I walked around Manhattan today, taking pictures. I spent some time in Bryant Park and got a bit hungry. 'wichcraft has kiosks set up in the park, so I tried this chocolate chocolate cookie. It was only $1, but it's small. However, it was big on taste. The cookies were firm and crispy and the chocolate cream inside was rich, and pudding-like. I had to eat some cookie, then lick up the creamy goodness, then eat more cookie and so on in order to avoid the cream from oozing out all over me. Well worth the price.

Awesomeness

I'm a big Tom Lehrer fan and this video, which I found on Boing Boing, is an awesome mashup of Lehrer's Element Song and Google's new Google Instant: Instant Elements. And as often happens, when I look at YouTube, I get a bit lost looking at other videos from the person who posted the one I went to look at. So, for fans of Mad men, here's a look at how much smoking they do on that show. And here's a video mashup for Google Wave and Pulp Fiction.

A Whole Lotta Nothing

From Neatorama:  I need these Commandments Sticky Notes. And if I drank coffee, I'd so get one of these: Cool Coffee Machines.

Got spam today from Cigar Fun. Yeah. Right. When I'm looking for fun, the first thing I think is, Gee, I wish I had a cigar. Not. But at least it wasn't the usual Viagra, Penis Enlargement, or other crap that typically fills my spam folder.

I've been having problems moderating comments. Either people keep deleting comments before I can publish them, which makes no sense, or that's happening as soon as I open the email in Firefox. I'm going to try to not open the email notices and go straight to Blogger to moderate. If you've commented and your comment has not appeared, please try again. This does not happen with FF on my netbook, nor with FF on my work PC. Nor does it happen with Chrome on my home PC, so I don't know what's going on with FF, my home PC, and Blogger.

This is So Cool

I was looking through the new Stats feature on Blogger for this blog and found this in the referring sites section. A few hits came from Sheer Bliss Ice Cream which I reviewed after tasting it during the fall on my trip to California. Thanks for the mention, Sheer Bliss! I wish I could buy your ice cream in NYC.

I've been buying toys again. Here's a picture of 3 "Ice Cream" Dunnys. Two are old and one is from the new series just released. They come blind box (you don't know what's in each box til you buy and then open it), so I get mine on eBay from people who buy in bulk, open the boxes, then put them up for auction so you can get just the ones you want or be sure to get a complete set without duplicates. These are just so cute.

Happiness is a Pair of Warm Socks

So you can imagine how much happiness all these socks will give me. Yes, my order from Sock Dreams has arrived! It's my favorite online shopping store, followed closely by Zappos (for shoes, handbags, and more). Three pairs are over the knee/thigh highs, so they should fit nicely as knee highs on my less than slender legs. ;)
