Tis the Season
T'is the season for gifting. And to start, here's a Chanukah Gift Guide.
The Nerdist offers up a Gift Guide for Book Lovers. And for book and library lovers, there's Out of Print which sells library-related clothing and book bags.
In other links, here are the essentials you need to know about Mars. Because. Mars!
I saw Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part I and loved it. It was well done and true to the book. The things they added or changed worked perfectly. I can't wait to see Part II next year.

Holiday Shopping Part One
The New York Daily News helpfully did a feature on online gift shopping. So I tried findgift.com and typed in specifics for my hubby in the site's Gift Wizard. Choice number 2 is a real winner! The Pickle of the Month Club. For the guy who has everything, because one can never have enough pickles. Another fun choice is If You Can't Say Anything Nice, Say it in Yiddish by Lita Epstein.
Here are some more sites they listed.

Here are some more sites they listed.
- Cookies! From Elenis.com.
- A nice variety of items, from clothes to handbags to craft items, over at Shop Orange Button.
- Spencer's is a mall chain store known for its raunchy gift items. And it's online!
- Sur la Table has kitchenware and holiday-specific items.
- Some of us aren't wine drinkers, but for those of you who are, Vintage New York might be a good place to start.
- The Bathroom has fragrances, skincare products, and related housewares.
- BlueQ focuses on fun gifts geared for women. There's a nice variety. I like the shoulder bags and the candy packaging are probably better than the candies. The Dirty Girl glasses are kinda tempting.
- Hometown Favorites looks like a good source for hard-to-find, old-time and/or regional foods and candies. I didn't see everything I remember from the '60s, but the dark chocolates look good. I'm going to have to try their Dark Chocolate Covered Grahams. Yum. Too bad they aren't the kind with the jelly inside.
- The Met Museum Store is the site for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Find gift items from jewelry and accessories to items for the home.
- Three Potato Four has a cute name and some really cool items. The Decor section features fully reconditioned rotary phones and antique blocks.

Holiday Shopping
Some nifty gifts for the last minute shopper. I have not personally tried these sites, so I don't know if they're reliable. The first 3 were listed in the NY Daily News paper. The rest I found surfing the web. Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. If nothing else, these gifts are fun to look at.
Crime Scene Towel, for that hard-to-buy-gifts-for person, at BaronBob.com.
Perhaps you know someone who would like Play-Doh Cologne. At Perpetualkid.com.
Lots of fun stuff at Gagworks.com.
Gifts to make, from Organized Christmas. Also, here.
Gifts for professionals, from Gifts.com.
Make Maxi-Pad Slippers for the special someone.
Spilsbury delivers fun. Or so they claim. The Remote Control Tarantula can liven up any holiday party.
Amazon has some fun items, too. They say these are mostly for kids, but we're all young at heart, right?
Chocolate Fantasies is a bit more, uh, adult.
Who wouldn't want a rubber duck? Rubba Ducks has some very nice ones.
Memorable Gifts.com has many interesting possibilities listed.
How about a personalized gift from Personalized Headlines?
Zodiac Art is another gift link directory.
And finally, Give Presents, Not Offense, a useful article on the ettiquette of office gift-giving from MSNBC and Forbes.
