Still Here

First it was the hurricane, now a nor'easter that dropped snow on us. I've been hunkered down, venturing out to vote and for a medical appointment. Which makes for nothing much to blog about and my chocolate supply is getting low, which means I'll need to venture out again, soon. My Saturday plans for lunch with friends has already been canceled due to iffy public transportation for many of them.

Don't recall if I blogged about seeing Argo, the Saturday before Sandy struck. It's awesome and I highly recommend it. Even knowing the story is true, I was on the edge of my seat. Now I want to see Skyfall, which, weather permitting, I should get to next week, maybe. There are still some older movies I should see first before they disappear.

See? A boring post. I need to get out.

Waiting for Frankenstorm

We here on the East Coast of the US are awaiting the arrival of Frankenstorm Sandy, part hurricane, part ??? There may be snow. *sigh*

Meanwhile, I'm trying to decide on what planet I would want to wear this.
Mannequin wearing an outfit that makes my eyes tear.
I've also eaten way too much Halloween candy. I really need to stop buying it because it's so addicting. These pumpkins came in a pack of candy corn.

Yesterday's Storm

Storm in NYC
It looked much worse, but it ended up not being as dramatic as I'd thought. We've got more storms in the forecast for the next 4 days. Sheesh.

It's really feeling like the lazy, hazy, crazy dog days of summer. And yet, Wednesday was gorgeous, a perfect day to take in a ballgame, which is exactly what I did. How I managed to have that kind of luck, that the day I planned to be outside for a few afternoon hours turned out to be the nicest day in the week, I don't know, but that's what happened!

Wind at My Back

That's where I'd like the wind. At my back, helping to propel me along the busy streets of the city. Not in my face. Not blowing everyone's cigarette smoke into my face. No matter which direction I was facing today, the wind was blowing in my face. So annoying.

But at least it wasn't rain or snow blowing in my face, so there is that bright side.

Too Damn Hot

The heat and humidity just sucks the energy right out of you. It's hard to stay fully hydrated. It's hard to do anything. Went to the gym, but didn't do my full 40 minutes or my usual speed and incline on the treadmill. Had to sit for a while before going home. I have a long weekend, so I'll try again, maybe Friday when it's supposed to be nicer. Got the A/C working hard, so I feel better now.

And of course, as bedtime nears, I'm starting to perk up. Wonderful. <-- Sarcasm Feeling:

Let it Snow

DT's First Day on the JobSnow came today and is still falling, but it will turn to rain tomorrow with warmer temps, so the snow will be gone by tomorrow night, for sure. We don't typically get a lot of snow in NYC, but this up and down with the temperature must be a global warning thing. Went to the gym, lost a pound from last week, don't know yet if it's real weight loss or normal fluctuations. Will need more weeks to see if I'm taking off weight.

Dreary Day

When I was a kid, a teen really, I used to like rain. As long as I didn't have to dress nice and be somewhere. I didn't mind wearing old jeans and rain boots. I'd toss on my raincoat, grab an umbrella, and go out for a walk Not in a downpour or an electric storm, but a nice, light rain that made everything wet and shiny.

These days, rain just makes things look dreary to me and I feel as dreary as the day looks. Today is a dreary, rainy day. I'll be glad when I'm home and it's night and I won't have to think that the sun should have been shining because there is no sun at night.

Feeling: ; at least the weather is an excuse to use this cool mood pic.

Top of the News

File this headline item in the NY Daily News under "Things I Don't Need to Know." I mean, it's not like I'll ever get to put her suggestions into practice with Tom.

I much rather dwell on how many Yankees (former and current) were named in the steroid probe report vs. former and current (I don't think there were any current) Mets.

And in weather news, Snow was Mostly No Go. I'm sure there was snow somewhere. There's some slushy white stuff around and if it freezes, there will be a lot of ice tomorrow, but mostly, all I saw and walked through was cold rain and sleet.

Over Socialized

I joined another social network: Squidoo and made a lens (page) for shopping links. It's kinda fun and I might actually use it, which I can't say for many other sites I've joined.

Gorgeous day after the torrential rains (and tornado in Brooklyn) and flooding. So of course I had to work today. I did get to go out and take pics during lunch hour.

I'll have another poll up soon. I wasn't surprised the majority of people would most hate to lose their vision, but I thought hearing would get a vote or two.

Sick and Tired of Cold and Rain

Seriously. I really am. I had a hot chocolate with breakfast. Okay, I let it really cool off, but still... It's the middle of friggin' April. And the rain. Sheesh. Floods. Over 8 inches of rain in Central Park during the last 2 days.

Global warming sucks.

Rain on the Roof

I am getting so tired of rain. Today was really bad, and I hate complaining, knowing other areas have been having worse, with full-fledged hurricanes and all we had was a plain old nor'easter, but I'm sick of rain. Wettest October. Had a training seminar today so wasn't at my library branch with my locker and spare shoes and change of clothes, so I ended up wearing more comfortable but too warm winter boots instead of the not as comfortable for all-day wear rubber boots. The training was pretty good, though. I really like the 2 trainers. We're going through a Planning for Results process of organizational change, which is a fairly dynamic activity for the entire branch system.

Been reading. Will get book review up on Shelly's Book Shelf in a day or so, or maybe later. Got to get some comic reviews up on Shelly's Comic Book Shelf. And need to pick the next subway reading material. With hundreds of books waiting for my attention here, choosing takes a bit of time.

MAD Magazine covers. Sweet. Found on Boing Boing.
