I know I don't blog here much, anymore, and I keep thinking about ending this blog, but it's my oldest and dearest blog, started on AOL back in 2004, so I keep it, posting infrequently. I don't even know if anyone is still reading it. But here I am, another year about to end. I thought I'd serve up another batch of links.

• The Jewish Tradition of Eating Chinese Food on Christmas goes back longer than I'd thought.
• How NORAD started tracking Santa Claus is a feel-good story.
• "A Former Plantation Begins to Tell a Fuller Story of Slavery in America" is fascinating reading.
• The Maccabeats really scored with their "I Had a Little Dreidel" video.
• Much as I hate to, I must give kudos to the Atlanta Braves (enemy of the NY Mets, boo hiss) for scoring a home run with this "Home Alone" spoof.
• "The Nietzsche Family Circus" is the single panel comic we all didn't know we needed.
• Kit Harrington's Audition Tape with Toothless the Dragon from "How to Train Your Dragon," is priceless.
• Listen to the wind on Mars. So awesome!
• Orthodox Chews are salt water taffy. I need to try some!
• I love these miniature scene bookends. 
• Book trucks (carts) for home use!
• Fake Memorial Statues in NYC fascinate tourists. I need to see one for myself. 
• I love Improv Everywhere, and this streetside work cubicles video is pure genius.
• An artist replaced men with women in iconic western images and the results are wonderful.

• There's a Sourdough Library, though it seems more like a museum.

• SheThority is a wonderful feminist resource started by actresses on the DC Comics TV shows.
• Nathan Fillion made a fan film that's the opening for what could (should) be a feature film. It's wonderful.

2. Your hair? On my head. ;) It's really dark brown, with silvery white.
3. Your dad? In his house. This is an odd question. Just asking about my father? Not my mother? I wonder if it's supposed to be something else, if it's a typo or something.
4. Your favorite food? Chocolate, duh.

6. Favorite drink? Chocolate malted
7. Fears? Creepy crawlies, being incapacitated
8. Favorite shoes? None at the moment. I used to love my Havana Joes, but they got too tight. I'm really excited about the pair of Panama Jack shoes I got from a store in the UK that sells online. Panama Jack is the name of the shoe company, based in Spain. I don't know why the shoes were called Panama Joe when they were sold in the US.
9. Favorite way to relax? Reading, watching TV, playing online
10. Your mood? End of summer blahs as the days grow shorter
11. Favorite Place? I just love walking around NYC

Things that Entertained Me

Feeling overwhelmed by the horrible political climate in the US, I have found some fun things to share.

• Some wonderful NYC street art.
• These "superheroes as movie posters" are a delight.
• I am in awe of this artist.
• A fitting new endeavor for the actor who plays "Hot Pie" on "Game of Thrones": baker!
• Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez, most excellent broadcasters of NY Mets games and former Mets players, go head-to-head in an unusual competition.
• Leave it to British Airways to make an amusing safety video.
• I'd love to see any/all of these suggested "Game of Thrones" spinoffs.
• I admit it. I love The Eagles. And Deacon Frey perfectly fills in for his late father. I hope he continues to perform with the group.
• I love when performers geek out just like the rest of us. Here's Dax Shepard and Kristin Bell's video honoring "Game of Thrones."
• Or how about actress Laura Dern meme-ing herself.
• There's something oddly compelling about these altered old photos.

It's been a while since I posted links here. Mostly because I've become a bit obsessed about the political situation here in the US. But there have been some fun things to share recently, which I think we all need right now.

• The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC is having an exhibit of school children's art.
• If you've seen the Wonder Woman movie -- which is amazing, by the way -- you'll understand the sword reference in this latest fashion meme.

Madeleines

It's hard for me to walk by an Epicerie Boulud without stopping in to get a snack. Yesterday, after seeing Paul Taylor Dance Company at Lincoln Center, I picked up this pack of two chocolate chip madeleines and ate one on the walk back to the subway. The other became today's snack. They were fresh and moist and had a bit of lemony tang. So yummy.

New Year Just Like Old Year

To be honest, most of what I'm still reading online has been political, which I try to avoid here on this blog. I had a political blog, but gave it up years ago. Now I just share those links on Facebook, which is easier, though depressing lately. So there hasn't been much by way of fun things to share, but here goes.

Tom Lenk's Instagram. I might've linked to it before, but it's worth a repeat. Actor Tom Lenk reenacts fashion looks from actresses on the Red Carpet. If you need a laugh, you can find one here.

That's pretty much it, actually. I had meant to share fun holiday links here, but forgot and it's a bit late for Chanukah and Christmas music now. I've really been in a funk since the election here in the US. I normally get in a funk this time of year as the days get shorter, but the political climate has exacerbated that. I suppose I could throw myself into finding fun things to post here as an antidote, but I haven't had the energy for it. Maybe now that the days are growing longer again, my mood will improve. I hope so. I love this old blog and I hate neglecting it. Think I'll go find some chocolate to stuff in my mouth. That usually helps!

• It's nice to be able to afford things like this, but when someone can, it's great when it's shared to the internet. A father had a series of photos done with his young daughter recreating shots from the upcoming Wonder Woman film and they're awesome.
• These mash-up Halloween costumes are amazing.
• The Deadpool movie is up for a Clio award for best ad campaign. This NSFW video they made to celebrate the nomination is hilarious and definitely not safe for work.
• This old vocational guidance film for librarians tickled me.
• And this time lapse video of the New York Public Library reshelving the books in its newly renovated main reading room is pretty awesome.
• An update from NASA featuring the Mars Curiosity rover.
• Horses learned to communicate with humans in a recent study.

There were a lot more links that interested me, but they were all political and I think it's best to not overwhelm this post with too much heavy matter.

Cocoa Farmers

I did not know this. Cocoa farmers in Africa don't have access to chocolate, at least not the Ivory Coast cocoa farmers, and therefore, have no idea what it tastes like. They just grow and export the beans. Some recently got their first taste of chocolate and they pronounced it GOOD! This video is utterly charming.
