Scary Chocolate

Scary, yet adorable: Kisses of Death. They're sculptures, not, apparently real chocolate. Which is a shame. Who wouldn't want to bite into these cuties. ;)

Week of Sunshine

Well, mostly sunshine. Some clouds moved through to try to spoil the party that is September, but to no avail. The sun won and is shining as I type this. And sunshine made for a perfect day with a friend to snap pics midweek of 5Pointz, a world-famous graffiti building scheduled to be torn down to make way for condos. Taggers and graffiti artists travel from all over to paint murals on this amazing old warehouse structure, and it's always changing. The new buildings supposedly will have an art space, but there's something special about this warehouse building that won't be replicated.

Early Artwork

I was going through stuff in my closet and found the large envelope of artwork I'd done that my mother had saved. I thought I'd share some of them here.

This was done when I was 8 (1961)

This was made a year later. I don't recall where, but somewhere where they had those big drum thingies that you poured paint into and spun. They were a lot of fun to play with.

Another from when I was 8 or 9. My proportions are a bit off. Look at the short arms on that woman! I think I was copying from a photo.

Fun Stuff

A friend gave me these buttons that her husband made. Aren't they cool? He (Alan F. Beck) is a talented artist who works primarily in the fantasy and science fiction genres.

And given that my brain is pretty much fried and I'm tired, I'm going to bed.
