Peeps Season

So, this exists. Cotton Candy-flavored Peeps. They were surprisingly tasty. Then again, I like all Peeps.

Chocolate Breakfast

I've long been a fan of Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies, but apparently, they also make Chocolate Frosted Flakes. I just discovered this, so of course, I had to try it. I prefer Cocoa Krispies, but this had the same deep artificial chocolate flavor I know and love.

Over the weekend, I enjoyed some chocolate-covered Peeps! They taste especially good after being refrigerated.

Play Ball

Flickr has removed support for Blogger, so I thought I'd test the embed code. It means I'll have to keep opening Blogger to post, rather than use a button on flickr. It seems that so many more people photoblog from flickr to Twitter and Tumblr now and so few of us who use Blogger, that they felt they could cut us off. I never thought I'd be blogging for so long, I'd be doing it from the time Google brought Blogspot to a time when Blogger and similar services (WordPress has also been booted to the curb by flickr) become less relevant than microblogging services. But I am still here and have no intention of leaving. So there.

Anyway, the official start of the baseball season here in the US is less than a week away, so I thought I'd commemorate that with a photo. And test that embed code thing I mentioned above.

Nope, can't do it. Can embed only a slideshow of my entire photostream which I do not want to do. So, it'll mean uploading pics directly to Blogger, which means using up my free Google storage. I'm not sure how long that will last. But here's the photo.

Chocolate and Links

Now this is the kind of article I love seeing: Healthy Living through Chocolate.

It's Peeps season! I love Peeps. I love eating them. I love taking photos of them. And I really love the dark chocolate covered ones. It got a bit squished, but it was fresh and yummy.

Some Doctor Who fun: An interview with Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy.

I love this Doctor Who art, too, found on Neatorama.

A True Detective parody that's dead on.

And some fun from the Game of Thrones cast.

And in a nifty mash-up for True Detective and Game of Thrones fans: Marty reacts to seeing the "Red Wedding."

Happy Peeps

I don't celebrate Easter, but I do love Peeps, and Easter time is prime Peeps time.

Peeps for All Seasons

I saw these in Walgreen's and had to try them. I guess there truly is a Peeps for all seasons. These chocolate mousse Peeps bears seem to be for Valentine's Day.

Chocolate Mousse Peeps
I have to say they're a bit addictive, but then, I find pretty much anything marshmallow to be addictive. But they're not actually Peepalicious. That wonderful, artificial, pure sugar that almost tastes stale flavor that makes Peeps so irresistible is somewhat lacking in these. The chocolate aroma hit me as soon as I opened the package and there is definitely a chocolate flavor, but sadly, I don't think they're as good as regular Peeps.

Peeps Season

Yup, it's that time of year again! Peeps Time! And the Washington Post's 4th Annual Peeps Contest was a rousing success. These photos are hysterical.

I have yet to take Peeps photos of my own. I was waiting until April to start.

In the meantime, I did this quiz. This is fairly off. And I love the blue ones.

You Are a Yellow M&M

You are a mystery to those around you. You're happy-go-lucky but also quietly enigmatic.

You live in a very individualistic way. You're doing what you love, and that varies from day to day.

You are very self-aware and introspective. You know who you are, and you're good with that.

You have an ironic view of life. You can be both serious and funny at the same time.

Feeling: amused

More on Peeps

Almost a week ago, I blogged about these dark chocolate covered pumpkin Peeps. As part of my dedication to you, my dear readers and fellow chocoholics, I bought two more. One is now chilling in the freezer and the other, seen here, spent a few hours in the fridge. I can happily report it was even better cold. The chocolate was nice and crunchy, and worked well with the chewy marshmallow, making for a most pleasant eating experience. The tastes of both blended perfectly with a nice contrast of textures. Highly recommended. Again, I passed on the milk chocolate ones, but if that's your thing, it's probably good, based on how good the dark chocolate ones are.

Tomorrow, I'll report on the frozen Peep. My mother was the one who introduced me to frozen marshmallows. She would keep a batch of Chocolate Twists in the freezer and they snapped when you bit them. A quick Google search did not pull up anything like the simple dark chocolate-covered long and a bit twisty marshmallows I remember from the '60s. They, along with Mallomars and dark chocolate-covered jelly grahams, and the more common Hershey's Semi-Sweet chocolate bars (now renamed Dark Chocolate) were my main source of dark chocolate goodness back in my childhood.

Peepaliciious

I was in Walgreen's, getting some cough drops and decided to check on the Halloween candy. I have an addiction for Candy Corn. I didn't find any (they're remodeling the store and still putting out stock), but I did find these chocolate covered orange Peeps. They came in milk chocolate, too, but I'm a dark chocolate loving gal, so you know which one I bought. Yeah, one. As in, one per pack. I forgot to check how many calories this thing had, but that's probably just as well. This was rich. And a tad too sweet, but very chocolatey. The chocolate was also a bit melted, so at the risk of hardening the marshmallow a bit, which can be very tasty, as per Mallomars, I think I'd like to try this refrigerated. Yes, I want another. Sooner rather than later. Yum.

Peepsicle

PeepsicleI got nothing, really. Just this silly picture. I ate the damn Peep after the photo shoot. He wasn't happy about having a toothpick shoved up his butt and I doubt he was happy being gnashed by my teeth and tossed down my esophagus, but such is life and death in Peep-ville.

Life in human-ville is stressful and rather uninteresting right now, so thank goodness we have Peeps!

Playing with Peeps

Peep-ing TomThe things I do for my craft. In this case, buying Peeps so I can take pictures of them. This one is called Peep-ing Tom. They're a bit disturbing looking and the taste is akin to soft, sugary cardboard, but the damn things are rather addictive. I've eaten the ones already used in photos. Four so far.

On the official site, you can read Fun Facts about Peeps. I especially like:
"In the early 1950's, it took 27 HOURS to make one PEEPS (R) chick. Today it takes six minutes."
Now, that's what I call progress.

They now have a lot more variety than I remember from years ago. Other holidays have Peeps of their own (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day). It's not just Easter, anymore.

Day Off

IMG_0195I'm working Saturday (the third Saturday in a row), so had today off. Went to my favorite dollhouse shop and pretty much the only one left in Manhattan. Bought a few things for my action figure photos. The new dollhouse isn't ready yet for me to buy anything for it. I need to prime and paint the walls first.

Next door to the shop is a wonderful bakery, so I picked up a half pound of assorted cookies. That's a small black & white cookie, not the big ones usually found in the wild.

Apparently, there's a Peep Show contest for dioramas using Peeps. They're really cute. We have Candy Addict to thank for letting us know.

Chocolate Peeps

Peeps Cocoa Bunnies! I must try these. They're somewhere on the site but don't seem to have their own page. And they should.
