Firefly or Bust!

Firefly fans won't let the show die. Moving beyond letter writing campaigns, the Browncoats are trying to fund a new season of the show. All they're asking for is $25. If you like the show, go here and contribute. If not enough money is raised, the collected funds will go to charity.

Sweet Serenity

I've been hearing the theme from Firefly in my head all day, hearing bits of dialogue from the movie, but already, parts of it are fading from memory and I need to see it again and again and again. I should say that while it helps to know the show, that isn't necessary to enjoy the movie, provided space ships don't make you ill. Joss Whedon gives all the clues needed for the story to make sense.

Been making brushes and gradients in Photoshop. I'd tried that when I was first teaching myself the program, but hadn't really played with it before now. Yes, it's addicting.

Back to work tomorrow and I haven't gotten nearly as much done as I would've liked. I've been trying to go through the piles of crap that keep, well, piling up, and after 3 days of weeding and reading and neatening, I've barely made a dent in the magazines and comics and filing.

Since House wasn't on yesterday, I tried My Name is Earl and have to admit, it's pretty funny.

I did make some more mood icons, though. I'll use one now.

Feeling Serene

As in Wow. Just Wow. Yes, I took myself to see Serenity today. I'm still processing it and want to see it again and again, but for now, I'm just basking in the afterglow. I laughed, I cried, I cried again, I smiled. I absolutely don't want to say anything that could come close to being a spoiler. I know some folks like to know what's gonna happen in a movie or TV show, but I'm so not one of them and I think the impact of events in this one will be diminished if viewers know ahead of time. And while I know a lot of folks have seen it already or don't plan on seeing it, there will be no spoilers here. I've read that some critics thought it felt too much like a TV show. Given how I felt the TV show felt more like parts of a movie at times, I didn't have a problem with the tone. The show usually felt as if it was straining against its bonds. This really opened it up. It also had some wonderful camera angles, a feel all its own. And there's a sense of sheer joy and wonder in this admittedly dark realm that Geoge Lucas once was able to attain but no longer.

Meanwhile, I want me a pair of these lighted slippers, link curtesy of Boing Boing.

Monday Morning Pick-Me-Up

Serenity in LEGO bricks. (We're not supposed to call them Legos, according to the LEGO company.) This Firefly fan is lusting after that Serenity model. And a reminder folks: The movie opens in less than 2 weeks!

I Love When a Plan Comes Together

Firefly Theme Song
(Main Title Theme Written by: Joss Whedon)
Performed by: Sonny Rhodes

Take my love, take my land

Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me

Take me out to the black

Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me

Have no place I can be

Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...

For once, it's been easy to stick to my To Do list. Okay, cleaning the bathrooms yesterday was no fun, but the laundry was fine because I bring a book down to read while the loads are running, but the rest of this weekend, I'd planned to watch the entire Firefly dvd set and by golly, that's just what I've been doing. One more episode left and plenty of time in the day remains. Watching the shows in order has been great, and seeing the unaired ones. I really had forgotten a lot. They've been better than I remembered, a lot of fun. I am so psyched for the movie.

I really need to make some more mood icons. Relaxed is the best I can manage with what I've done so far, but I really need "happy" and some others.

Edited to add: Serenity Movie Site.
