Movie Snack

. My favorite movie snack is Sno-Caps, though Malt Balls were good, too. During COVID19, hubby and I are doing a weekly movie night, complete with Sno-Caps. I never really looked at the box until now. For some reason, they think the standard Sno-Caps box contains three servings. Back in the days of actually going to a movie theater, I'd eat a whole box of Sno-Caps before the previews ended.

Not chocolate, but these Pretzilla soft pretzel bites are yummy. And having them with salt is optional!

Chocolate Snack

I've never had any Quaker Oats snacks before, but the chocolate in the name of these Chocolate Rice Crisps caught my eye during a recent visit to the supermarket and, of course, I had to try them.

Chocolate Rice Crisps
The rice and what I guess is caramel flavors were more prominent than any chocolate flavor. They were decent and very crispy, but they really got caught in my teeth and are not something I would buy again.

Madeleines

It's hard for me to walk by an Epicerie Boulud without stopping in to get a snack. Yesterday, after seeing Paul Taylor Dance Company at Lincoln Center, I picked up this pack of two chocolate chip madeleines and ate one on the walk back to the subway. The other became today's snack. They were fresh and moist and had a bit of lemony tang. So yummy.

Churros

Somehow, I've managed to never try churros, until last week, when I got some at a food truck in the New York Botanical Garden.

Churros with Sauce
I think the sauce was chocolate. At least, it had a mild chocolate flavor. The churros were rather tasty.

Brownie Brittle

It's been a while since I had some new, if only new to me, chocolate item to try, so when I saw bags of "brownie brittle" from Sheila G's at my favorite bagel place, I had to try them. The flavor is chocolate chip, which is the only flavor the bagel place had. The bag advertises a "rich brownie taste with a cookie crunch!" and it delivers that, along with chocolatey goodness in each yummy square.

Pieces of Brownie Brittle
They are definitely crunchy, with a rich brownie flavor. They get chewy the way brownies do as you chew them and the chips are a nice dark chocolate. This is an excellent chocolate snack. Even a couple of pieces can satisfy a sudden urge for chocolate goodness.

The website lists other flavors: Salted Caramel, Toffee Crunch, and Mint Chocolate Chip. The salted caramel sounds appealing. The bag says it contains two servings, with 120 calories per serving, which isn't bad.

Not Everything Yummy is Chocolate

I happen to love tortilla chips. Plain. No sauces. I also love sweet potatoes. So when I saw these, I had to try them.
Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips
Food Should Taste Good Tortilla Chips
Food Should Taste Good makes great tasting sweet potato tortilla chips. And they make them without trans fats or gluten or artificial flavors. I will definitely seek out more of their chips. These things almost count as health food! And one of their flavors is chocolate!

I also saw this fun display in the Rockefeller Center La Maison du Chocolat. Chocolate turkeys seem the perfect Thanksgiving dinner food!

Chocolate Snack Review

IMG_5808
I don't get to review much on this blog, but hubby brought home a bag of these Chex Mix Select Dark Chocolate snacks and I had to rave about it here. There really isn't much of a mix that I can see. A few chocolate covered pretzels, a few chocolate disks, a bunch of small chocolate pellets coated in red candy (like tiny M&Ms), but mostly, it's the Chex, coated in chocolate and they'd be worth getting this for even if there weren't other treats with them. This is an excellent taste combination, and not all that fattening. It does say 60 per cent less fat on the bag. Of course, if you eat the whole bag in one sitting, it probably is fattening as that's supposed to be 6 serving. The bag holds 7 oz. It's always nice to find a chocolate snack that won't break the diet and still tastes yummy.

Snack Food

Chocolate GoodiesHubby got a gift basket at work today and these are some of the goodies he brought home. I'll have to pace myself. I'll leave the milk chocolate and the nutty ones for him, which will still leave me plenty to nosh on.

Feast

Meet up with two friends from flickr and went to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy, one of the only street festivals that still has a unique look and feel. I had some zepoles (I cannot vouch for the recipe), sweet lumps of fried dough sprinkled generously with powdered sugar that gets all over you no matter how careful you are. I present a photo, just to show you I don't just snack on chocolate.

It was a gorgeous day, too, cool, bright sun, clear blue sky. It was also extremely crowded, but most people were really nice and even ducked out of the way when we were taking pics. Like:

Oreo Goodness

Oct906 006/>On Saturday, I was in the mood for a snack, but something different than what I usually have, whch is dark chocolate Hershey Kisses or dark chocolate M&Ms or Cheetos or corn chips. And I saw packs of these Oreo Chocosticks. There are 2 to a pack and I ate one, bringing the other home for later and for a photo. They really are good and I've always been a sucker for wafer cookies.
