The Strike's On

I can't say I'm surprised. This would've been better last weekend, but it's now and I stayed home by taking a vacation day. I can afford to do that the rest of the week. Monday is a closed day for the holiday, so if the strike goes on longer, I'm not sure what I'll do. I am not happy. It's freezing in this apartment because the wind's blowing and the heat is lowered during the day. I really would rather be at work. I am using the time to clean the bathrooms. Oh the joy. Can I stand the excitement?

I'm not going into a rant about the politics of this. I'm a union member. I think the transit workers have legit beefs, but this strike is illegal and it affects the entire city, not just those of us who use the trains and buses; it affects every business dependent on subway and bus riders, the folks who buy newspapers and gum at the subway newsstands, and of course, shoppers for the holiday, which is a factor in the timing of this.

Bloglines is back up and I spent the morning catching up on last night's blog updates. Last night, without Bloglines, I wasted spent time cruising Blog Explosion (nothing much new to see) and with flickr's "explore" feature and found a lot of nice photos and added a couple of the photographers to my contacts. I could easily see doing that for hours on end.
