City Slicker

Another quiz with a duh result. I'm a city gal through and through.

You Are City

You prefer big lights and big dreams over the slow paced life of the country.

You crave excitement, and the city has many opportunities for you.

While you appreciate the peace and quiet of the country, it's a little too quiet.

You need lots people, culture, and action to feel truly alive.

I'm also getting cautiously optimistic about my health. I might be in the 30 percent of people who get this nasty clostridium bacteria where it doesn't clear up in a week or two, but the antibiotic might be beating it into submission. Maybe. Like I said, cautiously optimistic. :)

Idiots Day

Today must've been Idiots' Day and no one told me. I was encountering them everywhere. They were out driving. They were riding bikes on the sidewalk. They were walking. And they weren't watching where they were going.

Otherwise, it was an okay hump day.

Brithday Quiz

Well, yeah, sorta, kinda.

Your Birthday Predicts You're Independent

Ever since you were born, you've loved doing your own thing.

You enjoy puzzles and games. Anything that stretches your mind interests you.

You are a quiet person - often lost in your own thoughts. Others find you completely mysterious.

You have so much fun thinking, dreaming, and planing. You hardly have time for friends.

Too Much Fail

I can cross another brand off my list of wearable jeans. Levis. I went to the Levis store yesterday. I never could wear them, but with the Gap and Liz Claiborne discontinuing the styles I wear, I was desperate. But no. No high rise. Nothing that fit and had deep enough pockets for my wallet and I really didn't want to try men's jeans. I'm not that desperate yet.

So I went to FAO Schwarz next, which is always fun. They let people take pictures of the toys. I'd wanted to get a 16-inch fashion doll. I know they sell them there, but... oops, they stopped selling the Tonner dolls a few weeks ago. So, I have to go online for that.

I wanted to spend money yesterday. I wanted to help stimulate the economy. But I failed.

Oscar Oscar Oscar

It's a sorry state of blog affairs when I do quizzes that don't interest me just so I can have a blog entry. So, here's my Oscar quiz results, for what they're worth.

Long Week

It's so annoying. I have a decent day, followed by a not so decent day, followed by a day that's like a few weeks ago. Sometimes I wonder if there's actually any medicine in the pills I'm taking for all the good they're doing me. Clostridium is one nasty, persistent bacteria.

So, not much going on. I just don't like neglecting this blog, so I had to post something. Wish it could be more upbeat.

Quick Bits

Periodic Table of Elephants.

Easiest way to find jeans that fit, since I can't find smaller sizes for the ones I have that are too big because they've been discontinued: Shrink 'em. Shrinking jeans to the right size is an art, not a science. I never put jeans in the dryer, but I put 2 of the too large ones in on low heat and they're fine now. They might stretch and get too big again, but right now, I've got jeans to wear, just not for work because these are old, faded jeans that I love.

Playing Games

So, I still have my visiting bad bacteria. Those suckers really do not want to leave or die. They sure are persistent.

Been playing a lot on Facebook. I've tried a number of games, and still enjoy the word games (Scramble, Word Twist, and especially, Scrabble), but I've really gotten addicted to Pet Society and now, Dragon Wars. I did try Yoville (hideous graphics! what were they thinking?) and Super Poke Pets (cute, but graphically, and interactively, not up to the standard Pet Society has established). Yes, this is how I've been spending way too much of my evenings on.

WTF

There was something borderline bizarre about doing an online quiz about being online. Ah well. It would've been better if the questions offered choices that actually fit. As it was, I had to choose what was closest to me, which wasn't all that close at all. So, WTF, indeed.

You Are WTF?

As far as you're concerned, the internet is getting weirder and weirder.

And you're the type of person who can never look away, no matter how bizarre or gross something is.

No doubt about it, there are some pretty deeply disturbing people out there. And they are totally shameless!

You can't help but say, "What the f*?" There really is no other appropriate reaction.

Meanwhile, it felt like spring outside. Only thing missing was blooming plants. It won't last, but it sure was nice.

Health Update

Doctor's visit today. Seems I get a little bit better, then backslide. So, more meds, another appointment in 2 weeks. I'm so tired of this. I'm mostly functional, but my intestines are still screwed up, which is very bothersome. It's been nearly 3 months now and I just want to feel like my old self again. Unfortunately, the "cure" isn't much of one and seems as problematic as the problem.

Don't feel much like blogging right now. Don't feel like doing much of anything right now. Will watch NCIS, The Mentalist, and Leverage, then news and David Letterman, then bedtime. Dentist tomorrow. At least getting my teeth cleaned isn't stressful.

Feeling: blah

Some Stuff

IMG_1643
Too tired to come up with a cool title.

Our seats from Shea Stadium finally arrived! As souvenirs go, these are well worth the money. They're practical! We can sit in them! Coolness.

Watched a presidential press conference on TV for the first time since, uh, sometime during the Clinton administration. It was nice to listen to a president not mangle the English language.

Now that I've lost weight, thanks to this never ending intestinal problem, I need to replace jeans that are now at least one size too large. And it's been frustrating. Even the Gap no longer sells their classic 5-pocket, hi-rise, jeans. I'm running out of things to wear. A nice problem, but still, a problem.

I enjoyed 2 days at NY Comic Con (Friday and Sunday), spent money, and now have to wait a year and a half til the next one because next year's has been moved to October. Plenty of time for me to save up for it, I guess.

One Link Two Link

Snatches of NYC, captured in Legos. So cool.

If you've ever been confused about the spelling of "definitely," this site is for you. And while I think I linked to the Apostrophe Abuse blog before, it deserves a mention here.

I saw these Squishables at New York Comic Con today (Friday, 2/6). Not only do they look adorable, but they are incredibly squishable. You can't help but hug 'em tight. And the folks at the booth encouraged hugging. I hugged a panda, a tiger, and a lion. I plan to get one for myself and one each for a couple of friends.

You Are a Red Pen

You may seem quick to criticize or correct, but you think accuracy and truth is important.

You like to be involved in every project. You feel like you put the polishing touch on things.

You would make a good editor, detective, or accountant. When facts matter, you're the person to call on.

The Joy of Socks

The Joy of Socks
My order from Sock Dreams came today. Joy abounds. I love socks almost as much as I love shoes. I love them. They have free shipping in the US and they ship promptly. I placed the order Sunday night.

As usual, I had a lot of tidbits to post, now can't think of any. Next time, maybe.

Closet Maintenance 101

I am so f'in tired. Only 6 hours between pills does not make for a nice, sound sleep.

So yesterday, I tried on all the pants, jeans, and skirts in my closet. I'd done this 5 months ago. Most things fit, and a couple of skirts were too small but I kept them because I love them. Yesterday, pretty much everything was too big. My new black summer skirt? Too big. My expensive, dressy jeans? My black jeans? Too big. The good news is that the too tight skirts now fit. However, lots of shopping is in my future and I hope I keep the weight off because I'm getting rid of the too-big clothes. And replacements of the winter weight items will likely need to wait til the fall. But I'm down nearly 20 pounds -- and I'd like to take off another 5-7 lbs -- which is super. And I like a good excuse to shop.

Feeling: happy

I Can Live With This

I just can't eat it now. Still not eating dairy products.

You Are Mac and Cheese

When you are stressed out, you seek safety above everything else.

And nothing is more nourishing than a big warm plate of carbs.

Taking risks takes a toll on you, and you prefer your comfort food to be old fashioned.

You're the type of person who could eat the same meal every night, especially when life is hard.

Ho-Hum Sunday

I worked yesterday, then spent lots of hours on the phone with one of my closest friends, who lives in another state, for our monthly phone call. Went to bed very late (or very early this morning!) and got just about no sleep. So tired and a bit out of it today. So I've been vegging in front of the computer and read some comics, and now it's nearly time for tomorrow and work.

However, I do feel marginally better, so perhaps the antibiotics are doing their job, a nice thought.

Feeling: okay, sorta
