Funny Forwards

We all get 'em. Emails friends forward to us. Sometimes, we're getting in on the first batch, and sometimes, the history of forwards is longer than the actual email. A friend forwarded a batch of Adult Truths, most of which I'd heard before. But these are the ones that are my favorites/tickled me the most, so I'm sharing 'em.

  • Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
  • You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
  • Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
  • I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
  • Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

That second one usually happens to me about 5 minutes into the workday.

The hunger/boredom dilemma is one I seem to wrestle with constantly.

Went to noon Mets game. Temp in the 90s. I think my brain melted.

Smile!

You Are a Nose Smiley

You are a very detailed oriented person. You feel happiest when all your ducks are in a row.

You are conventional and orthodox. You are the most normal person you know.

You like to work hard, but you also value your downtime. You seek balance in your life.

You are smart to the point of being a genius. You are very learned.

There were actual questions for this. It's been a while. Mostly, lately, it's been "choose a pic that best depicts" whatever. Still, I'd expected 8-) because I wear glasses. ;)

Feeling: bemused

File Under Tales from the Library

From today's phone reference stint...

Patron: Can you send for the book from Canada?
Me: No, we can't get books from Canada, anymore.
(This continued back and forth for a while til I said: Canada is a separate country from the US.)
Patron: No, it's not. It's a province.
Me: ... (Well, no, I didn't pause. I stupidly tried to explain.)

Feeling: bemused

The Weekend Report

Went to the Happy Together oldies concert Friday night: The Buckinghams, The Association, The Grass Roots (minus Rob Grill who is in the hospital, and no, I don't know why), Mark Lindsey of Paul Revere and the Raiders, and The Turtles. No photos this time. I didn't take my camera, and felt like a civilian. ;)

Recorded Torchwood and watched it when I got home. Awesome start to the "Miracle Day" 10-parter!

Worked yesterday, then took a nice long walk after because it was just so nice out.

Slept late and stayed in today despite the gorgeous weather. Did some crafting.

Draft Blogger has the new Blogger layout for the dashboard. I like it, but the colors of the type and the size of the text are tough to read.

Feeling: accomplished

Printing Chocolate

So I pulled up Blogger and voila, found a new interface. I don't know if it's just in draft.blogger, but it sure is different. Will take some getting used to.

Anyway, I wanted to share this link for a chocolate printer. Ain't technology wonderful? :)

Movie Time

Saw Super 8 with a friend today and loved it. I took a film class in college and had a super 8 camera. I wish I'd grown up with kids into making movies. Maybe they were and I didn't know about it. I was rather shy, and more into drawing and reading than making movies. But I needed a few more electives in college and the class more than fit the bill. It was fun. And it was fun seeing a sorta coming of age movie about kids making a zombie movie and stumble into something that makes the zombies look like child's play. This was sorta a mix of ET with Stand By Me with current day sensibilities set in 1979. The young performers were all wonderful as was Kyle Chandler and Ron Eldard as two of the fathers.

We also got to see the trailers for Captain America and for Cowboys and Aliens. Both look great. I'm jazzed. Maybe I'll even get to see them in the theater. (I see so few movies in theaters these days, maybe 2-3 a year.)

Ride 'Em!

I love Improv Everywhere and this Carousel Race in NYC's Bryant Park is one of their best efforts. Those kids won't forget that day, I'm sure, especially the winner.

For the Funny

Saw these on buttons from Ephemera.com (they make my "Chocolate Slut" button) at Ricky's and had to share. I also had to scribble them down on my train ride home. I wish I'd been able to jot down more because they don't seem to have all that many on the Ephemera website.

"It's not that I'm old. Your music really does suck."
"I don't get hot flashes. I take short, private vacations in the tropics."

Holiday Cupcake

A colleague brought a batch of these into work today. Not chocolate (the cake part is yellow), but yummy, none the less.

Happy Independence Day!

Thought I'd get an early start in wishing my fellow Americans a Happy July 4th!

Patriotic Labbit

This cute little guy -- well, not so little -- is a plush Labbit, made by KidRobot.
