Halloween Star Wars Style

Stan, Steve, and Stu Pick Halloween Pumpkins to Carve
I love taking photos for Halloween using holiday candy because I get to eat the props after. So, today I snacked on Candy Corn, candy pumpkins, and Ghost Peeps.

I also had the frozen Dark Chocolate-Covered Pumpkin Peep, which wasn't as good as the chilled one. The marshmallow didn't freeze solid, so there was no snap when I bit into it and it was more taffy-like than anything and tough to chew. So, room temp was good, and chilled was best. I'm happy to have been able to provide this public service.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Chocolate Map

This news from Chocoblog sounds intriguing. They're launching a World Chocolate Guide, with the goal of mapping every chocolate shop and patisserie on the planet. Here's wishing them complete success!

More on Peeps

Almost a week ago, I blogged about these dark chocolate covered pumpkin Peeps. As part of my dedication to you, my dear readers and fellow chocoholics, I bought two more. One is now chilling in the freezer and the other, seen here, spent a few hours in the fridge. I can happily report it was even better cold. The chocolate was nice and crunchy, and worked well with the chewy marshmallow, making for a most pleasant eating experience. The tastes of both blended perfectly with a nice contrast of textures. Highly recommended. Again, I passed on the milk chocolate ones, but if that's your thing, it's probably good, based on how good the dark chocolate ones are.

Tomorrow, I'll report on the frozen Peep. My mother was the one who introduced me to frozen marshmallows. She would keep a batch of Chocolate Twists in the freezer and they snapped when you bit them. A quick Google search did not pull up anything like the simple dark chocolate-covered long and a bit twisty marshmallows I remember from the '60s. They, along with Mallomars and dark chocolate-covered jelly grahams, and the more common Hershey's Semi-Sweet chocolate bars (now renamed Dark Chocolate) were my main source of dark chocolate goodness back in my childhood.

This Ain't Right

You Are Mr. Goodbar

You are the type of person who wants it all. You are very driven.

And while you are obsessed with getting ahead, you're not about to break the rules to do it.

You're a natural people pleaser. You like people to approve of you, and luckily you do.

You have many facets of your personality. There's always something about you that other people find appealing.

Aside from the last question not having what I would really answer as an option, this is one candy bar I don't like. And the results are as off as these things get.

For the record, my favorite Hershey's Miniature bar is Dark Chocolate, followed by Krackel.

Pretzels

You Are Enthusiastic

You are a lively and energetic person. You feel psyched for so many things.

You love novelty, and you're very adventurous. You have many passions.

You get bored easily. Day to day routines feel mundane to you, and you like to shake things up.

You love to treat yourself, and even the smallest thing can serve as a "pick me up"!

Pretzels are one of my favorite snack foods, and they go well with potato chips for a winning combination! They're also yummy with cheese, preferably cheddar. If you're going to snack, they aren't as unhealthy as most other snack food, in moderation. A yummy, versatile food! And sourdough pretzels are wonderful.

Of course, chocolate covered pretzels are the best variety. But you knew that, didn't you? ;)

Feeling: hungry for some pretzels!

Extreme Yumminess

Oct2010 206

Had a waffle from Wafels and Dinges for lunch. Dinges are toppings and this waffle has a speculoos spread (cinnamon and ginger) that was so good that I didn't want chocolate after. I didn't want to lose that taste in my mouth.

Then I went to dinner with a flickr contact and dinner included thick, yummy chocolate mousse in a dark chocolate cup. I wish the light had been better. I didn't want to use a flash, so this is as good as I could get.

Moody Times

Does anyone remember the old Unky Moods? They were cute little drawings showing different moods, done by Marc Lutz. A while ago, I saw someone had started them up again, using his old drawings with permission, then adding their own and calling them Punky Moods. So I added it back here. It means logging into the site and choosing a new mood, and I'll still post my mood on each post, but will try using the Punky Moods for a more overall expression of my emotional state. All of which is easier than uploading all those cute clip art moods I did after Unky Moods vanished and swapping out the code each post.

Had dinner with a couple of friends at a burger joint called Stand. Along with burger with bacon, fries, and fried pickle slices, I had a mini toasted marshmallow shake. Yum!

Feeling: stuffed after a big meal and rather sleepy.

Peepaliciious

I was in Walgreen's, getting some cough drops and decided to check on the Halloween candy. I have an addiction for Candy Corn. I didn't find any (they're remodeling the store and still putting out stock), but I did find these chocolate covered orange Peeps. They came in milk chocolate, too, but I'm a dark chocolate loving gal, so you know which one I bought. Yeah, one. As in, one per pack. I forgot to check how many calories this thing had, but that's probably just as well. This was rich. And a tad too sweet, but very chocolatey. The chocolate was also a bit melted, so at the risk of hardening the marshmallow a bit, which can be very tasty, as per Mallomars, I think I'd like to try this refrigerated. Yes, I want another. Sooner rather than later. Yum.

Concert Night

Hubby and I went to an oldies concert tonight out at Westbury. They change the name of that theater so many times, it's not worth mentioning its current name. Anyway, on the bill was Andy Kim (remember him?!), Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, and Tommy James and the Shondells.

We've seen Tommy James many times and he was as awesome as ever. I love his guitarists, too. They're so energetic! But it was nice seeing a couple of acts new to us, especially since both Kim and Negron put on solid performances. Negron's son was playing guitar with his band, which was nice.

Rock Me Gently (Andy Kim)
Ain't it good
Ain't it right
That you are with me
Here tonight
The music playin'
Our bodies swayin' in time
(In time, in time, in time)

Touching you
So warm and tender
Lord, I feel such a sweet surrender
Beautiful is the dream that makes you mine

Mmm
Rock me gently
Rock me slowly
Take it easy
Don't you know
That I have never been loved like this before

If Edward Gorey had done Star Trek, this might've been the result. Found on Laugh Tracks.

I got a few laughs from this promo for Conan O'Brien's upcoming show.

Holiday Treats

Okay, so Columbus Day isn't exactly an eating holiday, but as I'm home cleaning rather than engaging in the more traditional shopping or going to the movies for the holiday activity, I thought I'd take a break from the drudgery and post some fun stuff.

I was rather busy the last 3 days, attending NY Comic Con, then uploading my pics to flickr at night. Here are a few shots of costumes I saw at the con.

I chose this argyle pattern because it was chocolatey, but I do like what it "means." ;)

You Are Intellectual

You are beyond smart - you're incredibly brainy. You love to think.

Ideas fascinate you, and you've been known to be quite bookish.

You are thoughtful and studious. You are always looking to take things to a deeper level.

You are also quite creative, though most of your creativity takes place inside your own head.

And finally, thanks to Generator Blog, I was able to obtain this needed prescription. You can get one, too!

I'm a Starr

You Are Ringo Starr

You are fun loving and carefree. No matter how much success you've had, you never take yourself too seriously.

You have a good sense of humor, and you like to goof around. You're more than willing to make fun of yourself.

You are generous and caring. You feel like you've been given a lot in your life, and you're willing to give back.

You do the right thing because it feels good. You don't need your flattery or your ego nurtured.

Lovely art, huh? <--sarcasm

Ghirardelli Chocolate to Help Fight Breast Cancer

This looks like an offer for milk chocolate, which I really don't like at all, but it's a very worthy cause: Ghirardelli Chocolate joins with the American Breast Cancer Foundation to fight breast cancer with donations and a product offer, plus a sweepstakes to win gift cards for Cole Haan.

Remember: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Another worthy charity is Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Full of the Sick

I'm sick. Got a cold. Not as bad as colds can be, but annoying, with the cough that won't quit. I did get my flu shot at work as scheduled, because I didn't have a fever. At least, I hope I didn't have a fever that wasn't registering, because I'd hate to not have it work.

Meanwhile, to make up for not posting for a few days, I present... Jim's Pancakes. Found on Neatorama.

And I've decided to delete the Technorati tagging. It's a bit of a pain, and I don't think it's making a difference re: traffic on this blog.
