A Quiz Because I Don't Have Much to Say

You Crave a Cultural Adventure

Life has gotten a bit routine for you lately, and you'd like to broaden your perspective.

You want to learn and grow from your adventure. You want to know the place you visit as well as your home town.

You are an open minded and curious traveler. You're all about immersing yourself in local customs, no matter how foreign they are.

Whenever you're in a new place, you try to speak the language, eat the food, and meet the locals. After all, that's what traveling is all about!

Feeling: bloated (too much to eat at break fast at my sister's last night)

Posting Malaise

I probably should just snare some more of my Question of the Day answers from Facebook, because I'm so out of it this week, I can't think of what to blog about.

NCIS season opener was awesome, and NCIS LA started well, but I liked the pilot 2-parter from NCIS last season. The Mentalist and CSI were both good tonight, House's 2-hour opener was amazing and a tour de force for actor Hugh Laurie. Heroes was entertaining, too. How I Met Your Mother hasn't lost any of its charm or humor and remains my favorite comedy of recent years.

The weather has been mostly lovely this week and work has been stressful, which is the new norm. I was able to find replacements, a size smaller, for my corduroy pants that no longer fit.

Had doctor appointment yesterday to have my thyroid levels checked. And that pretty much catches everything up. Life here at Chez Shelly is rather boring. ;)

Feeling: blah ;)

Lazy Person's Blog Post

You Are Driven and Focused

You view people with optimism. You have many meaningful relationships in your life.

You had more conflict with your mother than your father. Your relationship with her was healthy but challenging.

You deal with stress in a fairly normal way. Stress presents a struggle for you, but you're usually able to neutralize your emotions.

You are the type of person who knows how to get a lot done. However, sometimes you can't help but get overwhelmed by life.

On the TV front, How I Met Your Mother returned in grand, hilarious style and so far, Castle is entertaining. I'll watch the recorded Heroes and House later.

Color My Name White

Well, the honesty part is right. Some of the rest, too. But then, there's probably something right and something wrong for everyone for each color.

Your Name is White

Your name tells people that you have good intentions and a pure heart. You try to always speak the truth.

You are happy to step back and let other people shine. You don't seek attention or acclaim.

People see you as someone who is generous and ethical. You can be counted on to do the right thing.

You are bright and clear headed. You can offer a fresh perspective, especially when other people are in a rut.

A Walk Along the River

IMG_1713

Jeero, Ox, and I went to Roosevelt Island today. I went to have lunch with a friend who works there and after, I walked along the East River and took a lot of pictures. It was such a beautiful day. At night, hubby and I went to watch the Mets lose.

Yumminess

The things I do for my art. I purposefully dished up some chocolate ice cream and stuck in a Pepperidge Farm chocolate Pirouette wafer stick, broken into 2 pieces, just to take a photo of the concoction. Then, photo taken, I ate the contents of the dish. All so I could show you the versatility of the Pirouettes. Yum.

These cookies and cupcakes look so yummy, and fun, too.

Reunion Redux

An old friend from high school I hadn't seen since uh, the late-'70s, was visiting NYC for the weekend, so we got together at a diner with 3 other high school friends and it was reunion time again! It's really nice how well we all get along after so many years without seeing each other.

But now I'm too tired to post much because I worked today and got home late after the dinner. And I'm stuffed, too. I just had a grilled cheese sandwich and some fries, but I think I still managed to eat too much.

Almost Close

I had to see how close this would come out. Hubby and I honeymooned in Hawaii, nearly 25 years ago.

You Should Honeymoon in Asia!

If you and your sweetie aren't international travelers, you should be. You've got what it takes to explore the world.

You have a flair for the exotic - and will eat the mystery meat. Adventure is in your blood.

Asia is the perfect new experience for your new life. Especially if you go someplace you've never been before.

From temples to tofu to tech toys, you'll have trouble fitting everything in!

A Chocolate Post

When I saw these Chocolate Fudge Pirouettes from Pepperidge Farm in the supermarket, I opted to buy them instead of a box of Milano cookies. I'd had at least one of the other flavors, but not this one. Really, how could I resist. So I had to try them. And while the chocolate flavor could be more robust (the only really robust chocolate I've tasted from Pepperidge Farm is their double chocolate Milanos and their chocolate covered Milanos which I don't see on the site, so it might've been a short-lived special item), they are rather tasty. The chocolate wafers are nice and crispy (though if it gets humid out, that won't last for long around here now that they're opened, even with the foil wrapper inside), and the chocolate filling is decently creamy. They make a nice snack. The label says one serving equals two wafer sticks, for 120 calories (40 from fat), but I find one is sufficient to satisfy a momentary chocolate urge and at 60 calories, that's pretty good. And when I'm finished with them, I'll have a nice tin for my tin box collection (not something I set out to collect, but I can't throw away the nice ones).
They suggest using them to perk up an ice cream treat and I'll have to try that at some point.
Meanwhile, I'm working on projects around here, finally putting a roombox together that I bought over a year ago (!) and cleaning here and there, mostly tucking things away (out of sight). The problem with a lot to do is that I spend too much time trying to decide what to work on. ;)

Early Artwork

I was going through stuff in my closet and found the large envelope of artwork I'd done that my mother had saved. I thought I'd share some of them here.
This was done when I was 8 (1961)

This was made a year later. I don't recall where, but somewhere where they had those big drum thingies that you poured paint into and spun. They were a lot of fun to play with.

Another from when I was 8 or 9. My proportions are a bit off. Look at the short arms on that woman! I think I was copying from a photo.
