Sir Paul in Concert

IMG_0775

Last night, hubby and I went to see Paul McCartney in concert in Citi Field, and they weren't kidding about "rain or shine." It was fairly nice if humid during the opening act, an Irish band called Script, and for the first hour of McCartney's performance. Then the rain started and I discovered the saturation level of my lightweight rain jacket. So we left early, and missed Billy Joel's surprise appearance. Billy Joel had done the last concert at Shea Stadium, and McCartney had been a surprise guest for that, which is fitting since, with the Beatles, he'd been part of the first concert at Shea.

The security staff was fairly strict about the no cameras rule. I had my cell phone with me and it has a camera, but isn't all that good for night shots at a bit of a distance, so those shots are rather sucky. McCartney was wonderful, even if his voice isn't what it used to be, which given his age, is understandable. He did sound good, though, and honored both John Lennon and George Harrision with his music.

We'll be back there again tonight, in one of the upper decks, with a sucky angle, but at least, it's not supposed to rain!

Feeling: tired
