Over the Hump

Had to take an hour-long workshop at work on effective emailing. Learned such earth-shattering concepts as:
  • Spam is bad.
  • All caps is shouting and not good.
  • Smilies are unprofessional.
  • Use subjects.
  • Don't Reply All unless it's a small group and really, really necessary.
  • Don't confuse its/it's, your/you're, their/there/they're.
  • And uh, some other obvious stuff.
I'm so f'in tired. I think trudging around in the snow and slush is exhausting me. Or maybe it's the lack of sleep/menopause thing. One or the other for sure.

Well, your diagnosis may well be correct, but I suspect that "learning" these things may be part of your/you're problem. Duh. Was this a required workshop? Hopefully it was marketed to 'for the extremely doofus' at least...

Get some rest as possible. I certainly sympathize, esp. with lack of sleep/menopause stuff. ;-)

  3. Not only was I required to go, but I believe everyone in the system will eventually have to take it. The handouts had New Yorker cartoons, tho, so that was fun.

Right on. It seems people think of email as a conversation between the bathroom door. If you wouldn't send it in the mail, don't do it in an email.
