Doctor Who is back! Yay! And in an awesome way! Double Yay!

Been enjoying Torchwood: Miracle Day. And the rest of summer TV. And the fall season starts in a few weeks, making this TV lover happy.

Went to a baseball game with someone I met in 2nd grade and haven't seen since high school. That's 40 years ago, folks! We had a great time.

Weathered Irene without a problem. We were lucky. A lot of people weren't. We didn't even lose power or cable/internet.

Feeling: tired

Quake and Shake

Okay, so there was an earthquake outside Washington, DC. Folks reported feeling it here in NYC. I didn't. Our library tends to shake a bit normally as big book carts are pushed back and forth on all floors, and whenever a large truck rumbles by outside. It would take a lot more shaking for me to notice a quake. :) My husband said he felt vibrations. I did hear the rattling of the grating up by the ceiling of my office, but that was it, No vibrations, no shaking. I feel cheated.  We had a quake in NY years ago, in the morning, and I slept through it. We live near railroad tracks; I'm used to vibrations and rattling of things at home.

So, all is well, in case anyone was wondering.

Feeling: more worried about the hurricane heading our way than an earthquake in Virginia

In Brief

Still here. In the throes of summer doldrums. Work marches on, slowly but inevitably. I'm obsessing over Doctor Who and Torchwood. Realized I prefer teasers such as Coming Attractions and Previews, which allow me to hypothesize and ruminate and outright guess at what's to come in a nice, obsessive manner, and spoilers, which take all the suspense and fun out of a thing by revealing that which you are trying in an oh-so-clever way to figure out.

There's been chocolate, too. Always chocolate.

Links I Meant to Post But Forgot Til Now

The new layout here on Draft Blogger makes it easier for me to see drafts, and apparently, I have 10 unpublished posts. So I'm combining them. If anything is actually a repeat or a link doesn't work, sorry. And I can't believe how old some of these are. A couple were from 2009, some from 2010, and a couple from earlier this year. There's also a Christmas post I'll save til this year's Christmastime, but first, I'll double check that I didn't end up posting it under a different title.

Here comes the old stuff....

For a post I was going to call "Fun Stuff": I thought about titling this post Fun Shit, because that's the way I usually talk in my private, non-work, non-blogging life, but just couldn't do it. The intimidation factor of this going out into the Whole Wide World stopped me. So I'm blogging about it as an introduction to this post. Go figure.

Anyway, Misty, a flickr pal whose blog I recently learned about, posted about this fun site, Today on the Interwebs. Not that I need another blog to follow, but I'll be adding it, because, well, it's cool. So are Misty's photos which you should check out. She's a fellow rubber duckie fanatic. Okay, I'm not a rubber duckie fanatic, just a rubber duckie lover. It's the action figures I got rather obsessive about.

Lazy Summer Blogging

The last half year of work promises to be tedious and crazy and rush rush and everything in between. I can't wait til I can retire. That will have to serve as my mea culpa for ignoring this blog for days on end.

Meanwhile, Ghiradelli Chocolate is nice enough to provide a recipe to celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, but my Googling turns up a day in May for the official celebration. But really, do we need a special day to eat chocolate? I, myself, had a giant chocolate chip cookie just today. And it was good.
