Spring Has Been Postponed Until Further Notice

In honor of the predicted snowstorm for NYC on April Fool's Day -- and really, could we script this better? -- here's some weather humor.

A Facebook friend reposted this:
INSTALLING SPRING...████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░33% DONE........... Install delayed....please wait................. Installation failed. Please try again.

I responded with: http://www.spring.spring :

Yeah, it's been that kind of year. It will stop snowing and get warm, right? Right?

American Pie Night

No actual pie, but definitely the song. Hubby and I saw Don McLean in concert at Town Hall last night.
Don McLean at Town Hall, NYC

He was in fine form, as always. We've seen him in concert a few times now. He did some old favorites and a lot of other songs and he can cover Roy Orbison as well as anyone. Photography is allowed, which is cool, but not for his opening act and they do keep an eye out for cameras there, so no pics of the delightful Dar Williams.

BTW, are you aware the song "Killing Me Softly," the huge hit as recorded by Aretha Franklin, was written about Don McLean? Here's the story.

And, just for fun, this sign tickled me. And no, I didn't have time to stop for some. :(

Peeps Season

Yup, it's that time of year again! Peeps Time! And the Washington Post's 4th Annual Peeps Contest was a rousing success. These photos are hysterical.

I have yet to take Peeps photos of my own. I was waiting until April to start.

In the meantime, I did this quiz. This is fairly off. And I love the blue ones.

You Are a Yellow M&M

You are a mystery to those around you. You're happy-go-lucky but also quietly enigmatic.

You live in a very individualistic way. You're doing what you love, and that varies from day to day.

You are very self-aware and introspective. You know who you are, and you're good with that.

You have an ironic view of life. You can be both serious and funny at the same time.

Feeling: amused

Where Am I?

I got this from Bored Blog Almighty. (The link wasn't working for me, but I don't know why.) Find your name as a place. So I tried Shelly and got a lot of hits!

But when I checked the nearest ones to where I live, the spelling was Shelley, which won't do at all. I did find a Shelly in NJ, though.

Then I tried Chocolate, but got zilch, bupkiss, nada. Ah well. Wouldn't you love to live on Chocolate Lane? :)

Spring's Coming

Nothing says spring like dark chocolate M&Ms pastel colors for Easter. Yum.

Moon Meme

Too intriguing not to try.

You were born during a Waxing Gibbous moon

This phase occurs right before a full moon.

- what it says about you -

You like to question things and have issues settled before going to work on a problem. You appreciate art, elegant forms, and efficient designs. You seek deeper meanings in things that you see and want your actions to make the world a better place.
What phase was the moon at on your birthday? Find out at Spacefem.com

I suppose this is accurate. I would think a lot of other things might be accurate, too, if the moon was in a different phase. Fun, though.

Have a Chocolicious St. Patrick's Day

I decided to do something special for St. Patrick's Day. I don't wear green on St. Patrick's Day, because green is so not my color. I don't think I actually own any green clothes right now. Well, I think one pair of pants is khaki green. I used to have some forest green shirts, but nothing right now. So, I dug out the green M&Ms from a pack, and made this. Then I ate 'em.

Tuesday Miscellany

I got this from Andi: Make art out of spam at SpamRecycling.com.

And who, especially Facebook lovers, wouldn't want this set of stamps?

This was too ridiculous not to do.

You Are Rational

You are a very meticulous and organized person. You strive toward minimalism as much as possible.

You are both fussy and discriminating. You find yourself attracted to the simpler choice.

You are a very wholesome person. You have your own set of ethics, and morality matters to you.

Well put-together and elegant, you sometimes seem standoffish. You aren't a snob, but you do have high standards for yourself.

What I Did On My Day Off

After physical therapy for my shoulder, I went for a walk in Central Park around the Duck Pond. The sun was playing peek-a-boo with the clouds, but it warmed up a bit and despite there still being some ice on the surface of the pond, there were duckies out enjoying the afternoon.

Central Park Duckies
And of course, I had to have some lunch, so I got a waffle with spekuloos spread from the Wafels and Dinges cart. Yum! Truly, there are things as good as chocolate to eat and this is definitely one of them.

All in all, a perfect afternoon.

Can Only Get Better from Here

Or so I hope. It was another Monday of Mondays, folks. Tomorrow has to be better, right?

In the meantime, here's a link I've been meaning to post: Indulge with Sweet Reads. This humble blog gets a mention.

And while I'm at it, a few more links...
Wil has some food for thought on his blog. These are pretty good, too: Texting made easier for the older generations.

Stuff That's Fun

So winter came back today, but at least it didn't bring snow. Below freezing temps, though. Feh.

Not much going on, so I figured I'd better post something and what better than some cool links.

Advertising Icons Become Action Figures. (On Neatorama)
Charlie Sheen Quotes as New Yorker Cartoons (I saw this on Facebook)
Best SFF Books of the Decade (from a poll of science fiction and fantasy titles, on Tor.com)
Dark Shadows the movie cast announcements
