Odds and Ends from Here and There

Chocolate, and some other plants, have been in danger of a fungus-like pathogen called Phytophthora (pronounced "fy-TOFF-thor-uh"). Who knew? Anyway, there's hope, according to this ScienceDaily article.

Horrified B-Move Victims Figure Set. Now these are action figures. Coming soon! Found on Boing Boing.

Life really is relative. Coming off a long, cold winter, 60° F. is positively balmy. After a summer of temps in the 90s, it makes me want to get out the hot chocolate and the warm blankets. *sigh*

Ernesto, or what's left of him, has arrived. Not much to say about him. He's brought rain and gray skies, not something we haven't seen earlier this summer, but he is ruining a 3-day weekend. I'd wanted to go out for a drive and maybe get photos of the Atlantic, something I haven't gotten to do in ages. And, it looks like, not this year, either. Didn't help that I'd worked 6 of 8 Saturdays this summer. Sundays were tough, too, because they became the days I cleaned and hubby and I did errands.

Summer doesn't end for 3 more weeks, but we've been so programmed by the school schedule from the day we enter kindergarten, that summer starts after school ends and ends when school starts. Summer is traditionally July and August, the calendar be damned. Damn it.

hmmmmmm...... I wonder how cold a nice chocolate malted will make me? I got the craving bad for my favorite comfort food.

Maybe I'll go finish adding categories for my comics blog. Here's the rundown on my Blogger updating project:
  • Cyber Chocolate. This place. I have no intention at this time to change this template, so I'll make do with technorati tagging.
  • Shelly's Book Shelf. I'm so on the fence with this one. It has a custom 3-column template. Blogger doesn't have 3-column templates, but I'd love to upgrade it. Not sure what to do yet. I'll leave Shelly's Book Journal alone for now, because I love how it looks and don't need categories there.
  • Shelly's Comic Book Shelf. Already upgraded, categories are in process.
  • The View from Here. A new layout beta blog that replaces Presto Speaks!
  • Alternate Reality. Will probably leave alone. As it's mostly about Mars, it doesn't really need categories.
  • Creative Endeavors. My photoblog, already upgraded and looking pretty spiffy. I retained the old color scheme.
  • The Malt Shop. Where I do regular memes. Already upgraded and entries categorized by meme.
  • ImPRESSions Extra. Blog for my amateur press doesn't need upgrading.
I have a few test blogs and one for my work links so I don't have to keep redoing my bookmarks every time they change computers or reformat the network or whatever else they do that means I end up redoing the links. Now they're all on a single entry blog. I'll leave that one alone, too. And the test blogs are for experimenting with features and template html. I listed the above on this blog so folks could see how beta Blogger is doing and to get more interest for my blogs.

And of course, I have non-Blogger blogs, too. The Write Stuff is for writing, Mal and the MalContents is for photos of action figures, and ITB Headquarters is a fictional blog for the spy stories I self-publish. With a paid LiveJournal account, I get to make communities, and it's fun to do that and play with the layouts there. I also have a WordPress.com blog called The Good, the Bad, the Blog (where I mostly discuss eBay and online shopping and stuff) and a new VOX blog, Shelly's Vox Attack which I might use for writing, too, but I mostly started it, like the WordPress.com one so I could learn about those services and found them to be pretty cool.

And while I usually blog about blogging on The View from Here, I thought I'd mention that stuff here because this has the highest readership. So there. :)
