To Craft or Not to Craft

Quote of the Day:
My idea of an agreeable person is a person who agrees with me.
- Benjamin Disraeli
I feel this says it all. heh

Read about this book, Craft to Heal by Nancy Monson, in the latest issue of Dollhouse Miniatures Magazine. Quilting helped the author through a tough divorce and she wrote the book to support the "relaxation response," and to give crafting its due. She said a hospitalized woman who made dolls told her that the craftwork "gave her a sense of purpose at a time when she could have felt very hopeless and helpless." So it's not just for fun. It's therapeutic. I know I usually feel very relaxed when I craft, even if I get frustrated when things get messed up. And I love working with my hands, very soothing.

Which probably explains my online "crafting," which focuses on fiddling with my blog templates or making mood icons for here or user pics for LiveJournal. It's fun and it's soothing and there's no mess to clean up after I'm done.
