After a failed outing last year, a friend and I set out last Friday for Rockaway Beach, one of New York's worst hit areas during Superstorm Sandy nearly two years ago. We were happy to find all the beaches open, and even some food concessions. One is CitySticks, where you can get ice pop treats. I'm pretty sure that's where I got a yummy chocolate ice cream cone. At any rate, it was an all-around lovely death, with perfect beach weather.
